Benefits Counseling
The Florence County Aging Resource Center has a person on staff called the Benefit Specialist trained to help older persons who are having a problem with their private or government benefits. Benefit Specialists are often called "red tape cutters". They are trained to help older persons with extensive and complicated paperwork that is often required in benefit programs. Any Wisconsin resident 60 years of age or older who is having a problem securing a public or private benefit is eligible for the Benefit Specialist Program in
If you want to know about any private or public benefit, if you need help in organizing the paperwork needed and applying for benefits; or if you are an older person who has been denied a benefit you think you are entitled to receive you should contact your County Benefit Specialist.
Benefit Specialists can help with medicare, medicare supplemental insurance, supplemental security income, social security, medical assistance, food stamps, consumer problems, housing problems, Homestead Tax credit and other legal and benefit programs.
