Nutrition Services
The purpose of the elderly nutrition program is to provide senior meals in a community or home setting. All meals served through the adult nutrition program contain 1/3 of the current recommended dietary allowance (RDA). Meals offered in the community setting provide participants with the opportunity to socialize while obtaining a nutritious meal. Meals are delivered to the homes of older people who are not able to come to the sites.
A person age 60 or older and the spouse of the person regardless of age are eligible to participate in the congregate nutrition program and may participate on a donation basis. Older adult wishing to receive home delivered meals will be assessed to determine the individual's need for service. All meals are offered on a donation basis.
Florence County operates three community meal sites. Reservation are requested and necessary to insure sufficient number of meals are available. Meal site locations, day of service and meal time are as follows:
Florence Community Center
Monday - Thursday 11:30
