Award:

$ 35,013.33

Project Scope:

Florence County is sponsoring an Aquatic Invasive Species Education, Prevention, and Planning project to be completed on December 31, 2008.  The project will focus on AIS education, prevention and monitoring.

Activities:

1. Recruit volunteers and implement a CBCW program at Florence County landings;

2. Hire an Invasive Species Program Manager and a CBCW Program Coordinator;

3. Conduct AIS citizen lake monitoring following Dept/UW Ext guidelines;

4. Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 and monitoring Forms 3200-124 and/or 3200-130 onto Dept website;

5. Collect water quality samples;

6. Disseminate AIS publications at boat landings, public areas, resorts, businesses, tournaments, and news articles; and

7. Develop/distribute a healthy shoreland living packet.
