Definition of Invasive Species

Invasive species are plants, animals, or pathogens that are not native to an ecosystem and have competitive advantages over native species and can cause or are likely to cause economic or environmental harm or harm to human health.

VHS rules:  VHS is a deadly fish virus that is present in all the Great Lakes and Lake Winnebago water system.  Visit the DNR VHS website to learns more about VHS and the rules.

NR 40 Invasive Species Identification, Classification and Control Rule: The State of Wisconsin recently passed a comprehensive invasive species rule, Chapter NR 40.  Visit the DNR NR 40 website to for more information about this regulation including  list of species that are regulated.
